1. 教育部長蔣偉寧昨天（2）到立法院教育及文化委員會進行「大專校院非典型勞動現況」的專案報告，多位立委質疑大學兼任教師遊走各大學，與專任教師同工不同酬。教育部長蔣偉寧表示，大學兼任教師遊走各校不應該是常態，教育部將檢討並尋求改善。
Yesterday, Minister Jiang from the Ministry of Education reported specifically on the topic of the non-typical labor condition in the local colleges and universities to the educational and cultural council at the Legislative Yuan. Quite a few legislators question the legitimacy of part-time lecturers in Taiwan teaching at different colleges and universities working with the full-time lecturers under the same framework by different salary schemes. Minister Jiang indicates such a condition should not be normal, which is why the Ministry of Education will reevaluate it and seek improvements.
2. 教育部宣布，103學年度上路的國中教育會考將加考英聽，104年正式計分，第一屆適用新制度是目前就讀小六的學生。立委蔣乃辛擔心許多家長會安排孩子這個暑假去補習，教育部長蔣偉寧再度呼籲，英聽考的是基本能力，學校會教英語聽與說，學生不需要特別補習。
The Ministry of Education announces the joint exam in the junior high school beginning from 2014 will include the English listening test. In 2015, the score of the English listening test will be officially counted as a part of the exam. The current six-graders will be the first group utilizing this new system. Legislator Jiang worries many parents will arrange cram school courses for their kids in this summer vacation. Minister Jiang, on the other hand, advocates again that the English listening test will examine the test-takers’ basic ability. Since students will learn the English listening and speaking abilities in their schools, they do not need to attend cram school courses (specifically for the English listening test).
3. 天氣轉熱，台中市長胡志強昨天(2)出席水域安全宣導活動，他呼籲小朋友今年夏天千萬不要到危險的地方玩水或游泳，並宣佈從六月起到十月，凡是到游泳池游泳的中小學生，每一次的門票市政府補助一半；胡市長希望今年夏天能達到零溺斃的目標，小朋友都健健康康、平平安安成長。
As the weather becomes hotter, Taichung City Mayor Hu attended an activity which promotes the concept of safe water territory yesterday. He advocates the children not to play or go swimming in the dangerous water territories. Furthermore, he announces from June to October 2012, all the students from junior high and elementary schools can enjoy a 50% subsidy from the Taichung City Government when they go swimming in the swimming pools. Mayor Hu expects the goal of nil individual drowning this summer can be met, and that the pupils can grow up healthily and safely.
4. 花蓮啟智學校單車社團15位學生，今年度暑假將挑戰環島12天，為了協助同學達成夢想，學校積極尋求各界資源，目前獲得大漢技術學院及東華大學教練、學生的支持，將陪伴孩子們騎環島，但經費的部份還沒有著落，期盼社會上的企業團體可以捐助活動費用，讓學生可以圓夢。
15 students from the cycling club at the National Hua-lien Special Education School will challenge themselves by cycling around Taiwan for 12 days this summer. To assist the students to attain this goal, the Special Education School actively searches for the resources from all walks in life. Currently support from the coaches and students from Dahan Institute of Technology and National Dong Hwa University is finalized and people from these two universities will accompany the 15 students to cycle around the island. However, the sources of budget are still pending. It is hoped the local enterprises in the society can donate the expenses (or fees) for the activity so as to let the students fulfill their dreams.
5. 根據非營利組織「終止肥胖症運動」最新報告，肥胖症造成美國醫療體系沉重負擔，每年治療肥胖症相關疾病的花費高達1900億美元。報告指出，肥胖症使得醫療成本大幅增加，保險公司為了彌補成本損失，結果便是提高所有消費者的保險費用。
According to the Campaign to End Obesity, a non-profit organization, in the US, obesity has caused tremendous amount of burden in the American medical system. Annually, the expense on the treatment of obesity is as high as 190 billion US dollars. Based on the report, obesity triggers the escalating medical costs. For the insurance companies to mend the loss of their cost, they in turn elevate all the consumers’ insurance fees.
